Friday Fun/Work from Brenda

            Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

This is a made-up word and Mary Poppins says it is a word you can use when you have nothing to say.

How many words can you make from this word?

Writing: Flags activity

Argument writing- used to convince someone of your opinion or facts, that you want to justify.

Write an argument about our New Zealand flag.

Design a flag for New Zealand

Convince us of why we should change to your design rather than keeping our current flag.

This actually happened in 2015 and 2016, when you were in kindergarten and then class one. The country spent a lot of money running a referendum on changing our flag. Many people (Artists like you) submitted their designs. New Zealand decided to keep the flag we had.

What to include in the argument:
  • The argument you are making should be clearly stated within your first paragraph
  • You should have several reasons or points of discussion that help you to support your argument. You will explain and support these reasons and points of discussion within the middle paragraphs of your argument.
  • In your closing paragraph, clearly state with conviction, your position to finally convince us.
  • Have fun arguing!
